Bingo Mistakes

Having played bingo for years in bingo halls with friends, I fondly remember all the mistakes I made in bingo. Once we were playing for the jackpot and it was a tidy sum. I had one number left to get and as soon as the caller called the first digit I yelled bingo at the top of my voice. When the caller called the second digit I realized my mistake; I had not won.

So after getting a lot of booing, hissing and a few cat calls, calm returned and play continues. Well, after a couple of numbers were called again the caller called the first digit and I suppressed my excitement. When he called the second digit I realized I had won. Before I yelled out bingo he called the next number and another player yelled bingo and I echoed him. Again I was stared down at but when my card was checked I had won, but so had the other player as his missing number had also been called. So the jackpot was split. I still frequent that bingo hall as I am not into online bingo. People there cut jokes about me, or just whisper among themselves when I walk in. But I still enjoy playing bingo there!

The Call in Bingo

Like every other game and other technical things, Bingo also has a language, which is most commonly known as the lingo of Bingo. In order to be sure that you are ready to play the game right, you have to know the jargon, which includes the different terms, and words that are used at different times during the game and which are significant and important to be known for a person to understand how the game is proceeding.

The jargon of a traditional Bingo game varies slightly from that of a traditional game. So it is important to learn the jargon no matter which one of the two games you are playing. There are small phrases and terms used in Bingo, which have been rhymed and have different backgrounds behind their names. In order to survive in a Bingo game, it is necessary to know the rhyming and the meaning.

Most of the terms have a symbolic meaning. Some of the more common terms are Kelly’s Eye for One, Get up and Run for Thirty-One, Doctor’s Orders for Nine. The number fifteen is represented by the term Young and Keen and Three by Cup of Tea. These terms are the ones that are used as substitutes for the number when a call is made. So in order for you to know when a call has been made and what that call means, it is essential that you first learn these terms and what they stand for.
